Welcome to the new Renaissance.
From today forward, the masterpieces of the art world are to be found not in museums or galleries, but in toy store aisles. Insane, you say? Well, you're right. For ground zero of this revolution is the Art Asylum, a sanatorium located in New York City that houses the most talented toy makers on the planet.
In 2001, Art Asylum created the most controversial action figure line in the history, with Eminem, toys based on the Oscar-winning film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and it also unveiled N' the Box, the Jack in the Box for the new millennium.
Now, in 2002, Art Asylum will tackle the most venerable science fiction franchise in history, Star Trek, along with sexy TV hit Dark Angel, figures based on martial arts legend Bruce Lee and a new breed of action figure, Mini-Mates, tiny toys that pack plenty of punch.
Art Asylum has proven time and again that it will not only have the imagination to envision an incredible idea, it can flesh out that idea in plastic. And the inmates are rabid about their ideas not being trampled on during manufacturing. Every toy off the assembly line will be a carbon copy of the finished prototype.
With an army of deranged, yet dedicated, artisans, for five years Art Asylum has shown the toy world they have the tools to create a toy that is a work of art while retaining playability. Led by head inmate Digger, long considered the bad boy of the action figure world, Art Asylum is on a mission to straight jacket the toy industry with the most intense action figures ever made.
